Not recommended. The Rio is cheap and works best as a city runabout - don't expect much else. Depreciation is high but, for simple A to B travel, it might prove a good deal.

Latest version of the baby Kia is a big improvement over the previous one, but then the old model was by no means a good car. Today's version has reasonable interior space for people and luggage, but the trim quality is what you would expect from a bargain-basement hatchback. Both the 1.3 and 1.5 engines feel dated, and struggle to reach 40mpg; there's no diesel option. Revised front end mirrors that of a Ford Focus and looks quite pretty. At least Kia cars come with a decent warranty and back-up package, so it shouldn't cost you much to own - apart from the heavy depreciation.
Positive Punkte
- Focus-sized family hatch for less than Fiesta money
- Looks are tidier than some other Kia cars
- Good warranty and reliability
|
Negative Punkte
- Handling won't provoke any smiles
- Feels cut-price inside and lacks equipment
- Heavy depreciation if bought new
